CommentsAssiniboine, Red and Winnipeg Rivers MB, April-May 1997. The province of Manitoba declared a state of emergency on April 22, 1997. Five days later, Emerson was hit. Over 7000 military personnel were employed for 36 days to assist in preventing flood damage and in relocating the 25447 evacuees; communities affected include Emerson, Rosenort, St. Jean Baptiste, Morris, St. Adolphe, Nutimik, Portage la Prairie, Ste. Agathe, St. Norbert, Letellier, Dominion City, Scanterbury, Halbstadt, Brunkhild, Domain, LaSalle, Sanford and Winnipeg.
