On June 1, the Saskatchewan Emergency Organization reported that a 500 hectare fire was burning approximately 1.5 kilometres southwest of the community of Wollaston Lake. Winds blowing in from the southwest caused the fire and smoke to encroach upon the community, and the fire increased to 1,100 hectares by the following day. On June 2, a total of 1,137 residents were evacuated but damages to structures had not been reported at that time. |
