CommentsKasabonika Lake First Nation ON, May 27-31, 2013. Snow and ice melt caused water levels to rise rapidly on Kasabonika Lake, threatening the First Nations community that lives on the lake. A local state of emergency was declared and approximately 150 of the most vulnerable residents were evacuated to the towns of Hearst and Greenstone. Several buildings were damaged in the flood. As water levels returned to normal, residents were allowed to return to their homes by May 31.
