Widespread flooding due to 450 mm of rain in a 30-hour period; the rainfall was from an intense thunderstorm which was centred over Colchester South and appeared to be stationary over Harrow for most of its duration. Many were evacuated from areas of extreme flooding and erosion; a few injuries were reported, no deaths; utility service in some areas was disrupted. Kent and Leamington counties were also affected. |
