CommentsA 3-day winter storm dropped 60 cm of snow with wind gusts of 120 km/hr and zero visibility. The blizzard lasted 57 hours; the third longest in Canadian history. Some snow drifts measured 25-30 ft and others up to 9 ft along major roads. Building and roof damage was also reported. Emergency services, critical facilities and VIA Rail service all experienced significant disruptions. Following the event, the Town of Churchill declared a State of Local Emergency. The blizzard also affected other parts of Manitoba.
